iCarly

In the fourth grade I was asked if I was named after Carly Shay, the main character of the popular show iCarly. I knew I wasn’t, but to make sure I looked up when the show came out, and sure enough it came out seven years after I was born. I had always felt like my name was on the less common side, I never thought there were going to be songs with my name as the title or anything like that, so I thought it was pretty cool when there was a show where the main character had my name. I then used the title of the show as the title of every icebreaker project I had, so it only feels fitting to use it as the title of my first ever blog post. So let’s break the ice, I’m Carly Brockman.

Some things to know about me. I’m a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill studying Advertising and Public Relations at the Hussman School of Journalism with a double major in Media Production. I consider myself an extroverted introvert, which is basically to say that when I’m around people I’m comfortable with I’m very social but when I’m in larger settings with people who I don’t know as well I get considerably less talkative. I am almost always listening to music if I’m by myself. I’m one of those people who gets excited when I discover a new song and will play it on loop because I can’t get enough of it. I tend to not work well in silence, if I’m alone I will listen to music or put on a show in the background, and I always enjoy being productive in the company of my friends. I love to bullet journal, and there will likely be blog posts where I talk about that more in the future because it is a huge stress reliever for me as well as the main way I organize my life.
