How Much Content is too Much?

In the digital age that we currently live in, content is easier to come across than ever. From all of the different social media platforms to streaming platforms, there is always something to watch. Brands are left to figure out how much to give the audience at a time to keep them entertained.

This is something I’ve been learning personally as I’ve been working on my business Pages Custom Journals. My content calendar looks crazy right now as I’m trying to build up the name and spread content as much as I can. I’m currently posting on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, and Pinterest, admittedly with varying success on each platform. It’s been a learning curve figuring out the right thing to do on each platform, and I’m still learning what the right balance is to best reach my target audience.

One brand who I think is struggling with this a little bit at the moment is Marvel. Fans of Marvel feel as though quality is being sacrificed for quantity with the amount of content that has been coming the past few years and the amount that is to come in the upcoming years. Personally, I still have enjoyed all of the shows that Marvel has been releasing, but I do understand the complaints. Particularly when it comes to CGI, the newer movies have looked a little more fake than what we have seen in the past.

Finding the balance is a difficult task because you want to keep your audience talking about you, and a great way to do that is by giving them content on a regular basis. However, if you’re sacrificing quality in the process this is going to hurt you in the long run. People get used to a certain level of quality from the brands they like, and when they can tell that the level of quality is being sacrificed they get upset.

So while I don’t have an answer on what the right thing to do is for quantity of content, I think it’s a very interesting issue that brands are dealing with currently and one where the solutions vary for different companies. I would love to hear what you think! Are there any other brands that you think have really messed up the balance, or any that you think are doing a great job? Let me know in the comments below.
