A Wet ‘N Wild Father’s Day

For Father’s Day this year we decided to take a trip to Wet ‘N Wild in Greensboro, NC. My sister had been earlier in the month, and I thought it could be something fun for the four of us to go do. I hadn’t been in a long time, but I was happily surprised by how much fun I had at the park. Granted now that I’m older the rides don’t seem nearly as long as I remember them being, but they were still a good time. It was nice to spend the day with my siblings and my Dad swimming and riding on the slides.

I think for all of us our top three favorite rides were Dr. Von Dark’s Tunnel of Terror, Dragon’s Den, and The Edge. These also were probably the most intense rides that the park had to offer. The smaller rides were still a good time, but I will take a bigger water slide where I get to sit in a tube over one where I’m just going down the slide on my back any day. We also had some fun relaxing in the wave pool, and there was one point where I somehow got flipped over by a wave and I honestly still don’t totally understand what happened.

We closed out the day in one of the funniest ways possible with a ride on the Raging Rapids. My dad, sister, and I were all riding together and my brother decided to do a single rider tube. We knew we were probably going to pick up some decent speed and get pretty high on the walls on the turns having three full grown people on the tube, but what we weren’t expecting was to get thrown out of the tube the second we hit the pool at the bottom. Looking back at it now it was really funny, and I’m sure my brother got a kick out of watching it, but in the moment it was a little freaky as the tube was on top of me, I was on top of my sister, and I had absolutely no idea where my Dad ended up.

Even though this was a bit of a belated Father’s Day gift because of all of our schedules, it was a very good time and I’m glad we were all able to make it work. I’m really appreciating little day trips to places like this with friends and family, and can’t wait to plan my next day trip to who knows where.
